The purpose of the University Relations Committee is to provide a liaison between Illinois State University, the community, and Senior Professionals. This liaison uses the experiences, skills, talents and networking of Senior Professionals to enhance the University students learning and professional development.
Mock Interviews
In 1997, the Athletic Study Center contacted Senior Professionals to discuss the possibility of conducting mock interviews with student athletes. Today mock interviews are mandatory for all Illinois State University athletes during their junior year. The interviews are held in fall and spring, allowing students to experience the process and provide them with essential feedback and preparation for future job interviews.
Quotes from Student Athletes
“I walked in to the interview thinking I would do perfect. I walked out learning new things.”
“Keep doing what you’re doing because it was really helpful.”
“I feel like the whole experience was very eye opening and very helpful. Being exposed to these difficult questions help me feel better prepared for future interviews. Make sure future athletes prepare further in advance.”
Résumé Review and Other Opportunities
Additional opportunities to work with students are available, such as reviewing résumés for students to help prepare them for career fairs and future employment. Senior Professionals partner with the Career Center.
